Costume, Hair & Makeup Guide

This page has everything you need to make sure your dancer shines on stage! Please bookmark this page for quick access to costume instructions, hairstyle guidelines, and makeup tips.

πŸ’„ Hair & Makeup Guidelines

Hair: Must be secured away from the face and styled according to class instructions (bun, ponytail, or other specified style). No loose strands.
Makeup: Light, age-appropriate makeup for younger dancers (blush, lip gloss, neutral eye shadow). Older dancers may use full stage makeup (foundation, blush, lipstick, eye shadow, mascara).
Boys: Neat, styled hair and light stage powder if needed to reduce shine.
πŸ’‘ Remember: stage lighting can wash out faces β€” makeup ensures dancers look vibrant and confident on stage!

Pre-K to Elementary Girls Stage Makeup Tutorial

NOTE: Makeup is not required for our youngest dancers. If they are comfortable wearing it, wonderful β€” if not, that’s perfectly fine too!
For those who do wear makeup, please stick with neutral eyeshadow shades and a berry-colored lipstick for a polished stage look.

Junior Girls Stage Makeup Tutorial

Please stick with neutral eyeshadow shades and a berry-colored lipstick for a polished stage look.
False lashes are not necessary for junior-level dancers.

HAIR TUTORIALS

Bun Hair Tutorial

We recommend brushing gel through your hair BEFORE making the ponytail to get an extra slick back bun.

BOYS HAIR & MAKEUP TUTORIALS

Boys Hair & Makeup Tutorial

Hair and makeup is not required for boys. However, we recommend gel for a slick, styled look that will stay for the length of recital!

If you choose to use makeup, please stick with neutral eyeshadow shades and a natural-colored lipstick for a polished stage look.
